Update 3/2/2008: The Annual GBF Dinner is SOLD OUT!

The Annual Dinner is only days away.  Friday, March 14th, is approaching fast, so here’s some final information for those lucky enough to have obtained tickets…

This year’s dinner location is the Elks Club in Carmichael, at 5631 Cypress Avenue.  The schedule of events is shown below.  Be sure to bring your checkbook!

The Day Program (for dinner ticket holders) will take place at the GBF clubhouse on the following Saturday, March 15th, from 9:30am to 11:30am.

Lori-Ann Murphy will be conducting the Day Program - which will focus on tips for perfecting your cast.  Free coffee and pastries will be provided after 9:15am.

We are still accepting donations for the dinner.  The biggest need now is for funds to help offset dinner costs.  The March general meeting is a great time to donate.

Remember… this is our only fundraising event of the year.  The proceeds of this evening help pay for the club's conservation outreach, programs and outings we’ll all enjoy in 2008!

Come early for Hors D’oeuvres – and to examine all the great prizes and auction items.  And did I mention… don’t forget your checkbook!  See you there!

Raffle/Auction Items Needed

Please consider donating something for this year’s Annual Dinner before March 14th.

Our success at obtaining nice raffle and auction items is directly related to our success at raising the funds needed to pay for club activities in the year ahead.  Contribute now and you can benefit all year!

Here are some of the kinds of things club members have donated in years past:

  • New, unused merchandise – fishing-related or otherwise.

  • Professional services – in gift certificate or coupon form

  • Handcrafted goods – again, fishing-related or other

  • Flies you tied (favorites or specialty patterns) in a fly-box

  • Funds specifically designated for the purchase of prizes

Getting any ideas?  If you can help, please call Mike Howes at 916-863-6795.  Any contribution is appreciated, and all donators are duly acknowledged at the dinner.  Here’s your chance to help the club help you (and fellow members) catch more fish in 2008!
