Salmon Festival 2003...

A GBF Success!

As the following photos attest, we had a fantastic event this year - right on the shores of  Lake Natoma!

Pete Peterson orchestrated an incredible GBF program of casting demonstrations and instruction, displays of rod and net building tools and techniques, and of course... Pete's favorite, the famous Kids' Fly Tying tent.  Pete's efforts, along with those of all our club volunteers (who make participation in this annual event possible), provided a real boost to local exposure, education, and excitement regarding the sport we love.  Future fly fishers (and GBF'ers) were undoubtedly made as a result of our efforts this weekend.

Special thanks to... Bill Kiene of Kiene's Fly Shop in Sacramento, for donating all the fly tying materials used during the event;  Jeff Putnam, for conducting his popular fly casting class;  Meg Grow of the Dept. of Fish & Game, for helping increase our contribution to this year's event; Gary Flanagan, for supplying volunteer food and drinks;  and of course... all the club volunteers, who gave up some or all of their weekend to help make this event so successful!   (Click on a photo to enlarge it).
