9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Folsom Lake Boat Ramp

Granite Bay Flycasters will be offering three (3) Intermediate and Advanced Fly Casting Clinics at the Folsom Lake main boat ramp from 9AM until Noon on the following dates:

Clinic 1 -- February 23 Tuesday

Clinic 2 -- March 10 Wednesday

Clinic 3 -- March 16 Tuesday

Sturmer White will be holding clinics to improve your line control and ability to handle various types of stream situations while fishing. There will be several new types of casts taught to keep your flies out of the trees and on the water. Each clinic is limited to six members.  Each clinic will be identical so you only need to attend one of the three. In the event of rain, we will meet at Maidu Park instead.

The clinics will be held at the Granite Bay side of Folsom Lake at the main boat ramp. At 7:00AM the instructors and all participants are welcome to have breakfast at Susie's Coffee Shop behind the Arco station on Douglas Boulevard and Auburn/Folsom Rd.  Some people may also want to park there and carpool instead of paying a fee for each car entering the park. The clinics will last from 9 AM to 12 Noon each day.

Items needed:

Rod (4 to 6 weight)

A floating line to match

7 1/2 foot leader tapered to 2X

Knee-high boots or Waders

Eyeglasses/Sunglasses

You must be a GBF Club Member to enroll in any GBF function. Membership applications are available from our website at www.gbflycasters.org.

Sign-up sheets will be available at the Oct. & Nov. meetings. The purpose of the Advanced Casting Clinic is to concentrate on techniques that will improve your catch rate as a flyfisher.

The criteria to sign up for this clinic are the ability to do basic casts or have completed a beginner’s flycasting class. It is necessary to be able to double haul on many of these casts. For this reason, the first thing we will do is to develop proficiency in the double haul.

We are interested in accuracy and line control more than distance.
