GBF Mentor Program

November 1,2007

Feb. 1, 2008 - Update from Rick Radoff: The Mentor Program is moving along well; Joe Aichroth tells me that six members have been assigned a Mentor to date. If you have any questions regarding what a Mentor could do for you, contact Joe Aichroth or myself and we will be happy to explain the program.

GBF TO START MENTOR PROGRAM

MENTOR (n): A wise advisor, teacher or coach.  With so many people joining the club recently, we have discovered many newer members have little or no experience, want more knowledge of fly fishing, or perhaps learned years ago and now want to be brought up to speed on the new tackle, materials and techniques.

The GBF Board is preparing a list of club members who would be willing to work with other members and pass on their knowledge. These learning sessions do not need to be on the water.  Meetings can be one-on-one or at most one-on-two.

Subjects can be such as:

·   Equipment: lines, rods, reels, fly selections

·   Accessories: waders, vest, wading staff, net, weights, clippers

·   Rigging: leaders, knots, dry flies, nymphs, indicators, tippet material

·   Reading the water

·   Presentation

·   Short line method

·   Wading precautions

·   Still water fishing
