What a whirlwind of a week! I’m writing this the Sunday after our Annual Dinner and am reflecting back on the last week: I attended the Conservation Committee meeting (see the big news in the Conservation Report in this Leader). Then we had our monthly meeting on Thursday night - we had a super turnout for Al Smatsky who put on an absorbing presentation about shad fishing. Then I picked up Lori-Ann Murphy (our Annual Dinner speaker) on Friday at 12:40 PM and delivered her to her hotel; then got ready for the Annual Dinner, picked up Lori-Ann, attended the dinner which was terrific (Fantastic job Mike Howes and the dinner committee), got up the next morning, picked up Lori-Ann, and went to the clubhouse for the day program where Lori-Ann demonstrated fly casting and helped several members with their casting skills, finished that up, took Lori-Ann to lunch and to the Airport, and then went to the Waldorf School to help man the GBF booth at the California Rivers Festival (Thank you to all the volunteers who worked the booth at the Festival). Now it’s back to normal.

At the general meeting Bill Tydeman announced that he and Ellen had returned to work and could no longer be club Librarians. Bill and Ellen have done a spectacular job with the Library; they re-vamped the numbering system and sold off most of the duplicate books to members at the monthly meetings. Thank you, Bill and Ellen for all your hard work and dedication to the club. And thank you Chuck Honeycutt for volunteering to take over the Library; I look forward to seeing some of the ideas that you shared with me being implemented.

In just a few months it will be time to elect new officers and some Board positions. I urge you to contact any Officer or Board member if you are interested in running for a position. We can answer any of your questions as to what it is like to serve on the Board.

Tight Lines!
