President's Message

Fran and I just got back from the Granite Bay Flycasters Board meeting and again my President’s message is due, so here I go, and will probably finish it tomorrow and get it to Frank Stolten our Editor of the Leader one day late (sorry Frank).

Well, the mentor program is off and running. If anyone would like to be a mentor let me know and I will include you in the program. If anyone has any questions about the mentor program, please contact Joe Aichroth, Bill Carnazzo or myself and we will be happy to answer any questions that you might have.

WOW, what a great fishout we had at the Delta! I would like to thank Denny Welch and Pete Peterson for putting it together and handling the logistics for this great event. I would also like to thank all of the members that provided their boats and guided us Delta novices. Well done!  Events to come in the near future are the Annual Swap Meet and Chili Cook-Off at the clubhouse on Saturday, December 1st, and our Annual Holiday Pot Luck Banquet at our December meeting on the 13th. I will send out an e-mail blast reminding you about both events and listing what beginning letter in the last name should bring what dish to the December potluck.

A little further in the future is the ISE show in Sacramento starting on the 17th of January 2008, Bill Carnazzo and Mike Howes are Co-chairing our booth and will be looking for volunteers. The sign-up sheet for the ISE show will be at the next two meetings and is posted on the website already, so if you can help please let Bill or Mike know.

A lot further in the future is our 22nd Annual Dinner, which is going to be on March 14th at the Elk’s Lodge in Carmichael. Tickets for our annual dinner went on sale November 1st. Make sure that you get your dinner tickets early for two reasons: first, to save money, and the other is to make sure that you get your tickets. We sold out early last year and had to turn away some that wanted tickets at the last minute.

Tomorrow I will be helping Sturmer White at his Casting Clinic given at Gibson Ranch.  I am sure that we will all have a good time. Well, as you can see there is always something going on in this club, and like I have said many times in my messages, you can receive many rewards from being a member of the Granite Bay Flycasters, but only if you put the time and effort into belonging. I hope to see you all at the December Holiday Pot Luck Meeting.

Tight Lines!

Rick Radoff

President
