Club members are always encouraged to submit articles for GBF's monthly newsletter, The Leader.  To do so, just follow the simple submission guidelines shown below.  Articles can be your own original written work - or other published material (with reprint approval) that you think would be of specific or general interest to Club members.  Photographs are also welcome and make articles more interesting.

1.  Send your article via e-mail to Frank Stolten at (fstolten@comcast.net).  Frank is the Editor and aggregates all the articles for each month’s Leader and sends them to our Publisher for production. The newsletter is then sent to our Printer, who returns them to us for mailing to the membership.  This process takes time, so your earliest response to our deadline by the 15th of the prior month is required.     

2.  Members may submit a classified advertisement for equipment they want to sell or a Want Ad for needed equipment.  Be sure to advise the Editor when your ad is no longer needed.      

Submission Deadlines

Articles must be received by the Editor no later than the 15^th of the month for inclusion in the next issue.  That is the absolute deadline and it is preferred that articles be sent earlier to allow sufficient time for proofing and an opportunity to correspond with the submitter if any question arise.                      

Submission Standards

When sending your article to the Editor, please follow these few rules to help ensure that your article is sorted properly and production runs smoothly:

·    For the subject line of your e-mail, use this format: ‘GBF Leader: (title of your article)’.

·    For the filename of your attached article, please use its title (or a shortened version of same).

·    In your e-mail message, please provide some brief info about your article (what it’s about, when you want it to run, and if there is any additional related info still coming).  You might also reference an Internet address (URL) where additional info or photos could be obtained by the Editor if needed.      

·    Avoid special colors, fonts, or other text formatting in your article (since all articles get converted to a standard font and format for publication in The Leader anyway).    

·    Digital photos may be submitted with your article.  If you have more than one or two photos, please zip or compress then for e-mailing.  Also, be sure to screen your photos (send only the pertinent shots).  If you can resize your digital photos, the specs that work best for our purposes are: resolution = 200 dpi, size = 4” Wide x 3.2” High (or 800x640 pixels at 200 dpi). That is equal to about a 1.5MB Photoshop file or approx. 300K Jpeg file. Generally the file will be under 2MB.
