Wow, I’m just back from spending two weeks along the Georgia coast and now I have to shift into fresh water mode – not a problem….can’t wait to hit the American River watershed this weekend.  On Saturday (May 19th) I’ll be joining Bill Templin for a clean up around Yankee Jim’s  Bridge in Colfax.  Now, I do know you won’t be reading this and joining us, my point is that doing a little clean up work might give you information about very good, local places to fish.

We have accomplished a lot this year and next year should even be better.  Our major achievement this year is the awarding of almost $22,000 in grants to local organizations that oversee the American River Watershed.  Our funds have helped change the river flows to be more natural, helped provide more cold water that is a necessity for our rainbow trout population, and we’ve educated youth about the importance of clean, unobstructed water in the watersheds and have taken our conservation message to both the California and federal legislatures.

This has been a very good year.  Thank you for all your positive, constructive actions you have taken to preserve and protect our natural resources.
