Endeavors to promote understanding of Sacramento's outdoor environment. Effie Yeaw Nature Center: Although located in the Parkway, encompasses both natural history and cultural heritage of the entire Sacramento region. American River Parkway Foundation: Supports preservation, maintenance, enhancement, and appreciation for the natural resources of the American River Parkway. Citizens to Save The Bluffs: Grassroots organization dedicated to raising money to protect the Fair Oaks Bluffs so that future generations can enjoy the panoramic vistas. Auburn Dam Watch is an effort spear-headed by All Outdoors Whitewater Rafting to provide accurate, up-to-date information about the social and environmental issues that shape the debate over constructing the Auburn Dam. Links: Protecting California Rivers and Beyond American River Conservancy: Protects and enhances natural habitats where biodiversity can flourish; promotes, through environmental education, a broad ethic of stewardship. American River Watershed Group: Consortium of governmental agencies, environmental groups, and interested individuals working to preserve this magnificent resource. Foothills Water Network: The overall goal of the Foothills Water Network is to provide a forum that increases the effectiveness of conservation organizations to achieve river and watershed restoration and protection benefits for the Yuba, Bear, and American. This includes negotiations at the county, state, and federal levels, with an immediate focus on the upcoming FERC re-licensing processes. Friends of the River: Dedicated to preserving, protecting, and restoring California's rivers, streams, and their watersheds. Friends of the Trinity River: Our goal is to revive the once premier Trinity River, its entire ecosystem, and the economies of the Trinity River Basin and North Coast of California. (new) International Rivers Network (IRN): Works to halt the construction of destructive river development projects and to promote sound river management options worldwide. Leave No Trace: The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics builds greatly needed environmental programs that teach awareness and respect for our country’s natural areas. The nonprofit organization works with diverse populations to integrate a nationally recognized set of skills and ethics with basic messages such as “pack it in/pack it out” and “leave it better than you found it.” The program then takes these basic messages and applies them to our country’s varied ecosystems and the multitude of outdoor activities that people participate in. Protect American River Canyons: Dedicated to the preservation of the wilderness, recreational, cultural and historical values of the American River and its Canyons. Sierra Nevada Alliance: Regional coalition of organizations working on environmental issues and community-building in the Sierra. Sierra Nevada Forest Protection Campaign: To protect and restore the Sierra Nevada; organized by numerous individual activists and more than 35 local, regional and national conservation organizations. South Fork of the American River: Information on history, rafting, river flow levels, and more. South Yuba River Citizens League: Community-based educational non-profit organization committed to the protection and preservation of the entire Yuba River watershed.
