Well here we are. It’s already 2004 and it doesn’t seem possible. Our first GBF fish out will be at the one and only Lake Amador, which, in my estimation is not the most picturesque place in the world but, they do serve a great breakfast, and there are big, and I mean big fish. . Lake Amador fishes well this time of year. At our last outing, one year ago, there were some very big fish caught. Trout in the five-pound class are quite the norm. We have about 20 anglers that signed up so we should have a great outing with plenty of room to fish. In the past the most popular fly has been a (Black Leach) pattern or a Woolly Bugger, also dark black, or even dark green. For those of you that have not fished Amador before, a 6wt rod works well, floating line and along leader works best. Traditionally, they seem to feed more towards the surface, however that could change so be prepared with intermediate or a weighted line. The fees for fishing from a float tube costs about $13.00, car-pooling is the way to go because they charge $6.00 to park a car. If you have any questions or if I can help in anyway you can reach me at (916) 408-8966 or. Check your Thomas guide for directions; I plan to be there early along with some other old timer’jimfishon@pacbell.coms so if anyone needs assistance, we can help. |
