Directions:

Frenchman's Lake Recreation Area is off Highway 70, about 8 miles north of the town of Chilcoot on California Highway 284. The drive on Cal. Hwy 284 follows Little Last Chance Creek up through a beautiful canyon.

There are some changes in the previous plan. Cottonwood Camp that we were going to use, is closed for the season. We will use Frenchman's Camp instead. To get to Frenchman's Camp turn right across the dam. It is about

a mile around the east side of the lake. Frenchman's Camp also has a boat ramp and is close to the campsites. There is a 180 degree turn on the campsite road. On the inside of that turn are campsites 18, 20, 26, 27, 29, and 30. We can have three vehicles per camp site, if they will fit on the black top parking area. We can have six persons in each camp site, (double up guys), the Camp Hosts said sometimes they do not count too good. Camp sites are $16.00 and half that for those with passes. If those attending would take one of these camps we would be close together for Saturday night dinner and the camaraderie. There might not be any BBQs at the camp sites, so those of you who have the portable BBQ's please bring them. Each of you that are going please contact me by email or phone so we can get some salads and desserts for the pot luck. Bring your own main course.

This will be a joint fishout with another Sacramento area club, the California Fly Fishers Unlimited (CFFU). According to reports, this lake should be red hot at this time of year. The lake is at nearly 5600 feet. Most participants will camp at the lake. Although, Reno is about an hour away. We will be using the FRENCHMAN CAMPGROUND (Cottonwood Springs Campground will be closed). They do not take reservations at this time of year. Trailers of up to 35 feet can be accommodated. No hookups are provided.

There will be a Dinner get-together with CFFU. Bring your own main course, and something like a salad, veggies, or desert to share with the rest of the group.

Six locations around Frenchman Lake provide fishing opportunities; Salmon Egg, Nightcrawler Bay, Snallygaster Point, Crystal Point, Turkey Point and the Kiosk.
