It’s getting to be that time to make the sign “Gone Fishing” so mark your calendar for June 15th – 18th for the PAST PRESIDENTS PICNIC & FISHOUT.  Things get started on Thursday, or whatever day you want to arrive, and ends on Sunday.  GBF will provide free camping in a private group campground; Tony Hamamoto is once again on the grill for the best ribs ever.  The Third Annual ONE FLY CONTEST is on Saturday morning followed by the Second Annual NOT SO SPECIAL OLYMPICS and then Tony's famous Ribs BBQ dinner.

WHEN – June 15th – 18th

WHERE – The Bear River Campground, it is only an hour’s drive from Granite Bay (see map)

Take Highway 80 towards Reno

Exit Highway 20 west to Grass Valley

Right on Bowman Lake Road

PG&E’s Bear River Campground is on the left before you cross Bear River

EVENTS:

Thursday – arrive and set up camp, maybe fish.

Friday – Fish on Fuller Lake, Rucker Lake, Bowman Lake, Spalding Lake, Truckee River, Upper American River, or the Bear River (try the area GBF restored) I hope to get a tour of the restoration project. This river requires full camouflage, stealth and a one cast only technique for very shy brown trout.

Friday Night – we start a fire and pass the “lying stick” for those who want to tell fish stories.

Saturday One Fly Contest, Not So Special Olympics and Tony’s Famous Ribs.  The Barbecue and Awards will be between 4-6 pm on Saturday.

Sunday – Just Fish!

RSVP AND QUESTIONS: Let us know via email if you’re going to be there; how many are in your group; and what day’s you’ll attend. We need the headcount for food. You can email us with any questions. (However, no questions about contest rules will be answered, as we will make them up as we go.)  At the April meeting we will have signup sheets for attendees, volunteers, and participants. Email Frank Massey (fmassey@jps.net) or Michael Powers (powers@cwnet.com)
