Fishing in the Truckee River has been better than
average this year. Many fish that have been caught have
been in the 18 to 20 inch range.
We
plan to fish both the Little Truckee and the Truckee
Rivers and advise the best technique to use would be
short line nymphing during the day and dry flies in the
evening.
The
13th and 14th will be open fishing
and the 15th (Saturday) will be more
organized. On Saturday, meet at the Ace Mountain
Hardware parking lot in Truckee at 8:00 AM. If you
are new to this sport or would like some help with your
technique, this is the time to fish with some
experienced fishermen.
Equipment needed: 4 or 5 weight 9 foot rod, floating
line, and 7 ½ foot tapered leader (3x). We will be wade
fishing, so you need wading boots and a staff.
Camping is available in the area for those interested in
fishing on Thursday and Friday.
