Fish: German Browns, Rainbows, Cutts, Brook Trout

Fishing strategy: This is a prime time for dry flies. This date was picked to try to hit the Green Drake hatch on the Middle fork of the Provo. The middle fork is also an easy to wade river, so I like wearing hip waders.

This is a great opportunity to fish dry flies to lots of fish. The middle fork and the lower fork of the Provo both have lots of public access and parking. With lots of German browns and Cut bows and rainbows thrown in.

I have a firm date with Jon Malkovich of Hardy Rods and Grey’s Fly Rod Co. He has promised to bring a few extra rods and reels for us to “inspect”.  Jon has guided for some time in the area and has a couple smaller streams for those who want to break out the 2 or 3 wt. and get away from the crowds. Here’s a couple of photos from my past trips on the Lower Provo and Currant Creek.

We will post locations of campsite and hotels soon.
